On June 9, 2011, the SFEC held the annual Jane Shetler Fishing Tournament, and that evening we had the Summer Social at the Firehouse.
This year the club designated the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund as our charity of choice for this event.
Here the crowd begins to gather.
Ed DiMarcantonio sold a lot of the 2011 Tournament Tee Shirts…
Dinner is served!
And the chow line forms…
Here is the Shetler Family table…
Everyone enjoyed the food and fun!
Rob Coffey, Club Vice-President, pinch-hit as emcee for Bud Lyon who is temporarily on the Disabled List.
Randy Roash spoke of the impact of ovarian cancer on several of those close to him…
And Herb Hollinger, Jr. talked of the impact Jane Shetler had on him…
Then it was time to present the fishing tournament awards. First, catches on the bay…
Third place went to Ida Massey (not shown) for her catch of a 1.8 pound flounder.
Here Dick Shetler presents Jan Hollinger with a second place plaque for her catch of a 2.1 lb. flounder…
And Nancy Freed receives the first place award for her 2.6 pound flounder.
The “Overall” winner was Colleen DiMarcantonio, for an 8.8 pound striper caught in the surf…
Jan sells lots of fifty-fifty tickets…
Dick’s twin grandaughters, Melissa and Chelsea, flip to see who draws the winner. Chelsea draws,
as the crowd watches and waits to see who has the lucky number!
And the winner is – John Latwinas!
John very generously donates his entire winnings to the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund.
Debbe Starr was once again “the little engine that could”, making the Tournament and the Social each a great success.
Deb would like to thank the Whale Creek Marina, Franks Boats, Iron Kettle BBQ, Dick Shetler, Rob Coffey, Herbie Hollinger, Bill Cooper, Ed and Beth DiMarcantonio, Carole Jameson, Jan Hollinger, Brian Riordan, and Moon. Thanks everyone!
