Summer flounder and sea bass regulations for 2014 were adopted April 3 at a New Jersey Marine Fisheries Council meeting in Manahawkin.
The main item to be determined at the meeting was the start and close dates of the 128-day season. After comment from the public — mainly captains or anglers affiliated with fishing or outdoor clubs — the dates were set for May 23 to Sept. 27. The other proposal was an earlier start date of May 17 to Sept. 21, a difference of six days.
The minimum size limit of 18 inches to be a keeper flounder and the five-fish daily possession limit had already been announced. More information at this Press of AC article.
