On March 1, 2012, the New Jersey Marine Fisheries Council approved adding five days to the summer flounder season while reducing the minimum fish size from 18 to 17.5 inches, which will allow more keepers.
The season will run from May 5 through September 28, five days longer than last year.
The Council also approved a plan to increase the black sea bass season by 42 days while retaining the 12.5 inches minimum fish size and the 25-fish bag limit.
