The 2013 Reef Cup Tournament:
New this year the Reef Cup Tournament was an instant success and will certainly be with us in the future. First Place: Herb Hollinger, George Welker and Larry Weaver, Steve Brown came in second and Sallie & Joey Callahan were third. More info and photos are available on the website.
October 12th: The Environmental Weekend:
The Environmental Committee made a “guts” call and did not cancel the scheduled planting of Bayberry & Beach Plums. The weather guaranteed a low turnout but we had an adequate showing of residents and members to complete the job. The talk that afternoon by Shane Goodall of the American Littoral Society was the highlight of the day, enjoyed by all who braved the nasty weather weekend.
Club Meetings, November 9th & December 7th (Remember):
These are the two most important gatherings of the year. In November we start the nominating process for the 2014 calendar year and in December we elect the officers for next year. These meetings also provide the opportunity to reflect on our activities, successes and maybe non-successes during 2013. This is your chance to input what you feel we did right or maybe could do better. Mark the dates, try to be there. Oh yeah, December is also our Club Christmas party featuring our two superior member chefs, Ed & Bud. Don’t forget the adult beverages and just a plain good time.
The Bayview Drive Boat Ramp:
For the past five years the Club has requested Upper Township to repair or renovate the Boat Ramp on Bayview. Recently the Upper Township’s engineer confirmed that they secured a grant of $280,000 to improve the Bayview Drive ramp. Work should start in 2014.
The Striper Board:
The Fall migration has started so don’t forget to record your catch at Whale Creek. List the length of your catch, the date and where you caught it. Awards at the Winter Social in February.
The Web-Site:
Just another reminder, all this info (and more) is available at strathmerefishing.org
