The SFEC Strathmere Tuna Classic was held from July 13 to August 17.
The Tournament Chairmen were John Schenck, Ron Penska and Rob Coffey.
There were 12 entries – eight tuna and four mahi.
The Awards Barbecue was held at the Strathmere Firehouse on August 17.
There was a nice turnout to enjoy the barbecue.

John Schenck presented all of the awards (which went by the boat in this tournament):
Tuna Division:
First Place went to Mucho Clams for a 207.5 pound tuna caught by Jason Hearon.

Second Place was taken by Playmaker with a 53 pound tuna caught by Paul Fedorko (not shown).
Note that each boat can only have one entry per division.

Third Place went to Reeler Dealer (Captain Brian Hoskins), also with a 53 pound tuna
caught by Michael O’ Rourke.

Calcutta:
The Calcutta was won by Mucho Clams.

Mahi Division:
First Place here went to Playmaker, with a 12.3 pound mahi caught by Randy Cline (not shown).
Accepting the award from John is Playmaker Captain Scott Weil.
Second Place went to Mucho Clams with a 10.5 pound mahi caught by Jerry String.

Third place went to Bimini Twist, for an 8.27 pound mahi caught by Ron Penska.

Rob Coffey thanked the other tournament chairmen and all of the participants.
Prizes were displayed and drawn by John’s daughter Siena and son Johnny.

Ron Penska caught this 8.27 pound 29″ mahi at the “Tea Cup” at 2:00 pm on July 14, on board the Bimini Twist.

John McGroarty caught this 74.4 pound tuna on July 14 at Massey’s on the boat Mucho Clams.

Phil Carfagno caught this 7.3 pound mahi on July 16 at the “Hot Dog”, also on the Mucho Clams.

Randy Cline caught this 12.3 pound mahi from the Playmaker on July 21.

Reid Cowan caught this 121 pound bluefin tuna at the Hot Dog on board the Mucho Clams.

One of these tuna is a 53 pounder, caught on August 3 by Paul Fedorko on the Playmaker.

On August 4, Jim Davis landed this 46.5 pound yellowfin tuna at the Baltimore Canyon while on board the Reel Danger.

Then on August 6, Jerry String caught this 10.5 pound Mahi at the Lindenkohl Canyon from the Mucho Clams.

Finally, Michael O’Rourke caught this 53 pound yellowfin tuna on August 11, at the Wilmington Canyon on board the Reeler Dealer.
All in all – a great tournament!
