During the last week of July, 2010, the SFEC supported the Wetlands Institute by assisting Wetland’s interns in catching diamond back terrapins for research. Club members made 11 trips, both morning and night, where we monitored and/or emptied the traps. In all, we caught about 15 turtles. The captured turtles were taken back to the Wetlands Institute, where they had some blood removed and a microchip implanted. The Institute also studied their “poop”. It was a very interesting week, and all participating SFEC members indicated they would do it again.
