President Randy Roash opened our last meeting with the flag salute on Saturday August 1st at the former Corson’s Inlet Marina. It was a nice change of scenery and brought back a lot of good memories of Jack Clements and the many club events that were held there over the years.
SECRETARY REPORT– Rosemarie Whelan read the minutes from our last meeting that was held on June 6, 2009 and they were approved.
PRESIDENTS REPORT– Randy asked the membership that was present to approve to spend funds for beach plants to be put on the dunes once the beach replenishment is completed. We will be working with Upper Township on this endeavor. This was voted on and approved. A newly formed Environmental Committee headed up by Carol Ferguson will be working on this project as well as others. The Environmental Committee met on Aug. 16th and is working on putting together initiatives to present to the board and membership at our next meeting.
Randy also appointed Herb Hollinger Sr. to do the yearly audit of the club’s financial state. Mr. H. will give us his report at the next meeting. There are plans underway to have a Jack Clements Reef Fishing Tournament next year. Gary Seagraves and Mike Clifford are planning this event. He also mentioned that Nightmare in Strathmere shirts went on sale and asked that members get their raffle tickets handed in.

NIGHTMARE IN STRATHMERE–
Message from the President– Thanks go to many for a successful and safe Nightmare. Despite an offshore hurricane threat, a recession, and threatening thunderstorms at parade time, we did it. Thanks go out to Scott & Jen Walsh for organizing and running the parade, judges, and awards. Dave & Herb Hollinger for the shirt design and purchase, Robin & Kurt Henry, Debbe & Tom Starr, Carole Jameson, Randy Roash, Herb Hollinger and Rosemarie Whelan for T-Shirt Sales, Robin Henry for her many letters, announcements and e-mail reminders, Carole Jameson for managing ticket sales and Mike Clifford, Robin Henry, Rosemarie Whelan for their help with ticket sales. Gary Seagraves for the Grand Marshall Boat and captain services. Bob Babezki and the Coast Guard Auxiliary for parade route management, Debbe Starr arranging Parade Permit with the State Police, Twistie’s, Frank’s Boats, Whale Creek Marina and the Deauville Inn for their help. To all the boats and houses who participated, you were not spectators, you were our players. Many comments were heard that Strathmere was a bit quiet for Nightmare and that it had a good feel to it, felt like locals having their party rather than a “Nights in Venice Carnival” type night. Thanks, Randy.
