What happened to Summer!! Can’t believe it is already the beginning of October! We had a nice turnout for our September SFEC meeting. Lots of summer stories were shared from epic fishing, turtle rescues, a duckling rescue and even an otter rescue. Buck Tail also gave us a report on how things are shaping up for the 2019 Fishing season. Please remember to send in pictures and data regarding any of your great summer catches for our Members Only year-long awards that are presented at our Winter Social.
We also took in three new members, so we want to welcome Mark Berger, Dwight and Maureen Kelly. We look forward to getting to know them better and having them participate in our club. Also want to Thank Rachel Rider, who made delicious meatball sandwiches for everyone to enjoy following the meeting.
Looking forward to October, you will not want to miss our Environmental meeting on Saturday October 20th. We have a guest speaker from the Haskin Shellfish Research Laboratory’s Aquaculture Innovation Center to give a presentation on their oyster research program. Some of our own members will also share their experience with growing oysters.
The Upper Township draft plans for the re-striping of portions of Commonwealth Avenue and Landis Avenue (C.R. 619) which includes a Pedestrian/Bike Path on the west side and parking on the east side of Commonwealth has been sent out as an email attachment to our Members.
The draft plans will be discussed by Township Committee at their regular meeting scheduled for October 22, 2018 at 7:30 p.m. at the Upper Township Municipal Building 2100 Tuckahoe Road, Petersburg. This information has been posted on the Upper Township website and is also available at the Clerk’s office.
