SFEC News – January/February 2009
President Randy Roash opened our last meeting on December 6, 2008 at the firehouse with the flag salute. He kept the meeting brief so we could hold our annual elections and enjoy our holiday party.
PRESIDENT’S REPORT-
Randy thanked the membership for their generous donations to the Food Pantry and Linda Phillips for chairing the program. He also thanked club member Donna Diefenderfer for her contribution of a rod & reel that was raffled off with the 50/50. Randy discussed a possible new location for the club striper board and asked the membership for their ideas. He also discussed having a Kid’s fish board to be constructed and installed in the future.
Randy thanked Rob Coffey and his crew for doing such a great job running the Last Cast Striper Tournament that took place right after Thanksgiving. Congratulations to the following guys.

PR Officer Dick Omrod has been in discussions with attorneys about the fishing club gaining a tax exempt status for contributions in the future. This will be presented and debated on in more detail at future meetings.
Treasurer’s Report- Dick Shetler, club treasurer gave the club’s financial report. He also brought out and sold a lot of leftover tournament shirts that were greatly reduced in price. It was a great way to do a little Christmas shopping while attending a club meeting. What a good idea Dick!
Personnel Officer Debbe Starr announced that the date had been set for the Winter Social, to be held on February 21st at the Deauville Inn at 6pm. The cost of tickets is $40.00 per person and that includes good food, music with a DJ, and a 4 hour open bar with wine & beer. Please contact Debbe for tickets. ELECTION RESULTS- Our election was held in accordance with the club by-laws. Out -going Secretary Ernie Phillips cast the vote for the following Executive Board for 2009.

Following the elections Randy thanked the out-going officers Ernie Phillips, Rich Hollinger and Bob Adam for serving on the board and for a job well done. Club members were then treated to a terrific meal once again, we would like to thank Chef Ed Andress and Bud Lyon for their superb culinary skills and to all of those who brought desserts or contributed in some way.
Sick & Welfare- Our heartfelt sympathy goes out to Ronnie & Randy Roash; Ronnie lost her mother just before the holidays. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers.
Get well wishes go out to Herb Hollinger Sr. who was in the hospital recently. Mr. H is one of our favorite club members and we hope he continues to improve and feel better.
Membership dues- We would like to remind our members that the annual club dues of $25.00 is now due. Please send yours in as soon as possible. You can mail them directly to the club. At the same time, please let us know if you have a change of address or a new e-mail address. Thank you.
Club Calendar for 2009 is enclosed/attached with this newsletter. In recent years our calendar has been very ambitious and sometimes overwhelming so we have tried to do our best to scale down our events. We realize how hectic our schedules get especially during the summer months, but we hope you will look the calendar over and choose events that you would enjoy participating in. All dates are subject to change due to weather etc.
Another Winter Social- Club member Mike Mazzeo has proposed the idea of having an unofficial Winter Social in Florida sometime in February for those members who spend some time there during the winter months. If you are interested and are going to be in that area, please contact Mike and let him know. You can reach him at 609-602-1374. Please let us know how it all turns out.
