Winter Social: By all reports a grand party. Fifty brave souls joined together at the Deauville for great food, lots of refreshments and outstanding company. Special thanks to Debbe Starr for all the work in hosting this event. Highlight of the evening was the announcement of the 2010 Striper Tournament winners. Here they are:
Over all biggest fish: Who else but Randy Roash.
Boat Category: 1st Place: Bud Lyon, 2nd Place: Tom Starr, 3rd Place: Joe Krajcek.
In the Surf Category: 1st Place: Dick Omrod, 2nd Place: Bud Eiden, 3rd Place: Joe Callahan.
March 19th Club Meeting: Four o’clock at the Firehouse. This is the meeting where we invite the political “heavies” to join us and discuss fishing and environmental issues. Planning to attend are Senator Jeff Van Drew, Assemblymen Mathew Milam and Nelson Albano. Cuisine will be provided by Chef Ed Andress. This is one you don’t want to miss.
501©3: Finally, after nearly two years waiting, the Club has been designated a “charitable” organization by the Internal Revenue Service. This is going to have profound impact on how we conduct business. We must do this right so hold off on amending any tax returns until we get more info on what is required, but don’t hold off on sending your DUES!
Boat Safety Course: Unfortunately the Coast Guard Aux. is unable to hold the Boat Safety Course in Strathmere this year. They are offering courses at St. Peter’s Methodist Church, 8th and Central Ave., Ocean City on April 2, May 7, August 6 and September 24. The cost of the one day course is $50 which will include lunch. Call 609-399-4299 to reserve a slot. Remember, to operate any vessel in NJ you must have taken, and passed, this course.
Summer Flounder: The ASMFC has not published size, bag limits and season dates for this year. A decision should be reached by April 7th.
SeaTow Special Offer: You have until March 15th to sign up with SeaTow at the special rate of $125.00. Call 609-263-2222 for more info; be certain to tell them you are a member of SFEC (otherwise the cost is $169).
Dues: They are DUE. Nowhere do you get more for your money than at the SFEC. Annual dues are $25 and should be sent to the SFEC, PO Box 77, Strathmere, NJ 08248. Attached is a form we ask you to use when sending your check. Please note that dues not paid by April 1st will incur a $10 surcharge.
