The 9th annual Last Cast Tournament was a success with 25 anglers fishing and a perfect boating day on Saturday with calm seas and lots of fish. Looking out at the ocean from the Strathmere beach, it looked like an invasion armada out there.
Friday, however, was windy and cold and a bit of a challenge. Large blues and stripers were caught on both days.
This tournament is generally very competitive between beach and boats, but again this year the stripers did not come in to the beaches and the boaters took all the glory.
Here are three Riordans – Gary, Gary Jr. and Brian returning from all day on the ocean on Saturday:
Here is John Snee with his 23.4 pound winning catch:
Here is Gary Riordan, Jr., with his Dad’s catch of 22.2 pounds, which took second:
We don’t have a picture of Chris Rodden’s 21.6 third place striper,
but here is Joey Callahan, who took 4th with this 21.0 pound catch:
Here are the award pictures:
Chris Rodden accepts the third place award:
Gary, Jr. accepts second place for his Dad:
John Snee was unable to stay for the awards, but Rob shows off the rod John won for First Place.
There was food and drink as usual on Saturday night and a good time had by all.
Congratulations to all the anglers and thanks to the stripers, timing it perfectly to arrive right in the zone off Corson’s Inlet for the tournament.
Next year is the 10th Annual and we are looking forward to having another great fishing tournament to close out 2015!
Thanks to all who participated and came to the awards dinner.
