Our decision to move the 12th Annual Kids Tournament to Sunday was the right decision. Despite constant winds, strong currents and a ton of seaweed we got the Kids Tournament in on Sunday. Carmen Constantine and I would like to take a moment to thank all of our club members who volunteer to help on both Saturday and Sunday.
We had 149 kids at the tournament which is fabulous considering this was a rescheduled date. We sold over 50 of our leftover “T” shirts, 36 leftover Nightmare mugs and well over $1,000 of raffle tickets. We ate 250 hot dogs, 208 bags of chips, 80 juice boxes and over 160 bottles of water. We gave away 540 blood worms, 100 hooks and 200 kids “T” shirts.
There was only one fish over 12″ caught and that was a 12″ Kingfish by Casey Coffen making her our tournament winner. This is the second year in a row that the women have taken first prize! There was over 30 fish caught including flounder, sea bass, kingfish, blues, puppy drum and pompano and of course a few junk fish like crabs and dogfish.
The raffle winners were as follows,
1. Pete Santori won the 24″ HD TV 2.
2. Nancy Cunningham won the “Phat” Bike
3. Sam Sheraton won the Remote Control Drone
4. Anthony Pace won the Beats Headphones
Our sponsors, Cameron Koshland from Boulevard Bait and Tackle, Pizzeria Uno (the Boks), Mike Cunningham from Sea Isle Bait and Tackle, Herb and Judy Hollinger, Joe Boyle Nationwide Insurance, Coca Cola (water), Two Chums Bait and Tackle, Coffey Kay Myers and Olley, Morgan and Missy from Whale Creek Marina, Paul and Tom Geib of Southampton Window Cleaning, George and Arlene Shute from Batarama in Westville and Axis Self Storage make this tournament financially possible and allowed us to give away over 50 prizes to the ”fisherkids”. When you see our sponsors around town please thank them and support when you can.
But without so many of you “yellow shirts” coming out this day could not happen with this much fun and without incident. So again so many people deserve so many thanks.
If you have pictures please send to Sallie Callahan at bsjj911@comcast.net so we can get them on the website.
See you next year for tournament number 13 !! I just stopped at Tuckahoe Bike and got a great deal for next year’s raffle on an all white bike with extra wide tires that the frame GLOWS in the dark!!! Let’s not invite the seaweed!
Thanks to all,
Edward J DiMarcantonio
