Sick & Welfare – Randy thoughtfully held a moment of silence in honor of club member Joe Dawson who passed away last week. Joe was one of the original club members of the SFEC, a long time member of the Strathmere Fire Department and very active in the community for many years and he will be missed. Our condolences go out to his children and grandchildren.
DATE CHANGE – Our next tournament is the club Flounder Tournament which has been changed to June 27th. Please make that change to your calendar and see the entry else where on the website for all of the details.
U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Vessel Safety Examination –If you missed the last boat inspection you will have another opportunity on June 13th at Corson’s Inlet Marina beginning at 9am to 12pm. This event is open to the public, not just club members so please urge your family, friends and neighbors to have their boat inspected to ensure a safe summer boating season. Please see enclosed/attached information sheet for more details.
FISHING SEMINAR– We heard that a really good fishing seminar was held recently at Whale Creek Marina. We would like to thank Bucktail Willie aka Bill Shillingford for doing a great job and giving up some of his tips and tricks to help out others. We also thank Morgan and Missy for hosting these kinds of informative programs.
Upcoming Club Events– June, July, and August are our busiest months for club events and we hope that our members will enjoy participating in as many as possible. This year the 3rd Annual Jane Shetler Women’s Tournament will be combined with the Summer Social and promises to be one of the biggest club events of the summer. This will be taking place on July 11th so please circle that on your calendar. We will have all of the details for you in the July Newsletter. The recent Star Party was cancelled due to clouds, so we are hoping for this event to take place sometime in July, and we will let you know as soon as we know. Don’t forget about the 4th of July parade, it is a family favorite and always a lot of fun. The parade will kick off about 10:30am Saturday, July 4th. If you wish to participate in the parade, you can register at the Firehouse starting at 9:30am. Club member Rich Hollinger and crew will be in charge of the club float this year, so be on the lookout for them.
