Recap of December 4th Meeting: Following the Flag Salute, the Secretary’s & Treasurer’s Reports, Randy Roash gave his final report as President. For most of us it is difficult to remember the SFEC when Randy did not have a leadership role. Be it the Surf Tournament, the annual meeting with the political heavies, the ocean reefs and much more Randy has had an immense impact on our Club. Under his leadership, what was once a fine little social club has grown into a dynamic, well respected organization in our island community and well beyond. Thanks Randy.
In addition to Randy stepping aside, the Club will lose the services of Robin & Kurt Henry and Herb Hollinger. Herb will remain as a Trustee. Like Randy, Herb has been a long time Board member and has made significant contributions to the Club. Thanks Herb. Kurt & Robin have been the team that provided this newsletter for the past three years. It’s a hands on job that never seems to go away and they deserve a well earned thank you! The Club Officers for 2011 are listed at the end of this letter.
Following the meeting, Chef’s Bud & Debbe provided a notable repast! Really good!
Salt Water Fishing Registration: This is a requirement if you wish to fish salt water in New Jersey. Registration was free last year but not now. You can still register with NOAA at www.countmyfish.noaa.gov but it will cost you $15.00. The NJ Legislature has passed a Bill that will offer free registration to New Jersey anglers. That Bill is sitting on Governor Christie’s desk, waiting for a signature to become law.
Helping Others: Linda Phillips reported that the Club has donated nearly a $1,000 of food and money to the COTR Food Bank, helping 85 families have a better Christmas. Thanks for your generosity.
Winter Social: February 26th, save the date! At the Deauville, six to ten o’clock. The price is $40 per person and includes the buffet, beer and wine. You can call Debbe Starr at 609-390-4718 for more info or send a check, made out to the SFEC, to Debbe Starr, 25 Lyndhurst Rd., Marmora, NJ 08223.
New Member: Paul Buchanan, a 35-year resident of Avalon was welcomed into the Club at the December meeting.Dues: They are DUE. Nowhere do you get more for your money than at the SFEC. Annual dues are $25 and should be sent to the SFEC, PO Box 77, Strathmere, NJ 08248. Attached is a form we ask you to use when sending your check.
