The New Jersey Marine Fisheries Council unanimously chose the option that shortens the Summer Flounder Season by 25 days but keeps the 2012 rules of a daily bag limit of five fish per day and a minimum size of 17.5 inches. The Press of Atlantic City story on this is here.
The Season will open on Saturday, May 18, which will now be the date for our Herb Hollinger, Sr. Opening Day Flounder Tournament. This means that the Surf Fishing Tournament will be moved back a week to Friday and Saturday, May 10 and 11.
At our March 16 meeting, Bill “Bucktail Willie” Shillingford asked that all fishermen register their catches (and especially non-catches) on the New Jersey Volunteer Angler Survey at this website: http://www.njfishandwildlife.com/marinesurvey.htm.
A story reinforcing this, also from the Press is found here.
.
By the way, remember that all New Jersey fishermen, regardless of residence, must register here every year.
