Recap of the January 14 Club Meeting: The meeting was launched with the flag salute led by Bud Lyon. About twenty-five members were in attendance, including Board members. Ernie Phillips reported $4775.93 in the Operating Account. The 2012 Calendar of events was discussed and members are reminded that the calendar is available on our web-site here.
Ed DiMarcantonio reminded all that the Club is registered as a 501(c)3 charitable organization and donations to the Club are tax deductible. What is not deductible is the value of anything you receive. For instance if you pay $20 for a T-shirt that cost the Club $10, you may only deduct $10.
2012 T-Shirt Design: Once again the Club will hold a contest to select the art for this year’s t-shirt. You can send your design to SFEC@comcast.net or give a copy to one of the officers.
New Members: Welcomed into the Club were the following:
1. Peter Prinsen of Strathmere and Philadelphia
2. Derek Boles of Ambler and Ocean City
3. Ron Penska of Avalon

Membership:
Get a head start on 2012. Your membership expired on Jan.1. Annual fees are $25 if paid before April 1, $35 after that date. This has to be the best deal along the entire NJ coast. When you send your check please be sure to complete the Member Information Form here.
NJ Salt Water Fishing Registration:
Register now for the 2012 season. You can only register online, at http://www.nj.gov/dep/saltwaterregistry/. If you registered last year just click on the “Renew Any Registration” box on the right side of the webpage. Last year the officials pretty much issued only warnings to those without a registration but this year they are talking stricter enforcement. Registration is free and you can print multiple copies, put one in your waders, keep one on the boat etc.
State of the Fisheries:
Mark the date, March 17. This is our annual meeting when we invite the political heavies to address the Club and discuss the latest issues affecting our favorite sport. This is one meeting you don’t want to miss. Past attendees included Congressman LoBiondo, NJ State Senator Van Drew and Assemblymen Milam and Albano. In addition several of the lobby groups, i.e. RFA & SSFFF will be represented.
Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day. Teach him how to fish, and he will sit in a boat and drink beer all day.
