REPORT FROM THE PRESIDENT
A MESSAGE FROM SOUTH STRATHMERE – Looks like we made it, the osprey are back, George T. has been spotted in the trailer park and the SFEC has planned a full schedule for you. On our calendar are some new events and the continuation of our many fishing and community traditions.
Some new things for you to watch for this year will be additional building of our artificial reef sites, a Jack Clements Reef fishing tournament, and some new club environmental initiatives. Also this year the club will have only one club shirt representing all of our 2010 tournaments. There will be a separate shirt for Nightmare and the Kid’s surf fishing day.
Soon we will be fishing the Herb Hollinger Sr. opening day flounder tournament, what a terrific day and event this is. The SFEC also has been challenged on that day to a five biggest fish competition by the Tri States Angler club. If we can work out the rules of engagement with them we will let you know the details and then let the games begin.
I hope you, your family, and friends will participate in and enjoy many of our activities this year. Everyone benefits with your participation, as we all benefit from the enthusiastic tournament and event work from our very active board and many volunteers.
The trailers, stripers, and flounder will be arriving very soon. Hope to see you at the next meeting April 24th and many events throughout the season ahead.
On a very personal note, our friend and club member Jerry Bonsall Jr. has been very ill and we would like to say to Jerry, you are one of the best fisherman we all know, while enjoying your company, your confidence, your conversation, and watching your dedication to your son Matt and your family, we all grew together in so many terrific ways. Please know you are an inspiration to all of us and have been a wonderful treasured friend to all of us from the SFEC.
Randy Roash
SFEC President
