With the assistance of some SFEC volunteers, the newest Osprey platform is now standing in Back Bay behind Strathmere. This latest nest, built by Dick Omrod, replaces a platform that was damaged by a winter storm. Dick says this newest platform stands about 14′ as he used a 6×6 post; it should be able to withstand the worst a Nor’easter has to offer. The best news, at 6 AM the next morning a pair of Osprey have made this new platform their home. The SFEC has again made a positive impact in local wildlife conservation and has contributed to maintaining and fostering a healthy coastal ecosystem. Thank you to Mr. Omrod and your “Crew” for continuing this SFEC Environmental initiative.
