The March 7th 2015 Winter Social was a huge success. About 60 members gathered at the Lobster Loft, where great food, refreshments, and entertainment was enjoyed by all. A big thanks to all of those who attended, The Lobster Loft, and Sallie Callahan, Rosemarie Whelan, and Liz Hollinger for planning such a successful evening.

The March 28th Recreational Fisheries Management Meeting was another successful event held by the SFEC. During the meeting awards for tournaments were presented to Ron Penska for 1st place in the Mahi-Tuna Tournament, and Ed Andress for 2nd place in the Striper tournament.

The special guests on the panel during the meeting included: Senator Jeff Van Drew, Assemblymen Bob Andrzejczak, Assemblyman Sam Fiocchi, Rob Geist (representing Congressman Frank LoBiondo), Executive Director of the RFA Jim Donofrio, and NJ Chairman of the RFA Adam Nowalsky.

The SFEC panel included: President Mike Olley, Program Chair and Public Relations Officer Randy Roash, and Trustee Bill Shillingford.

NJ’s 2015 regulations allowing for 2 striped bass catch limit and to include one at 43 inches or longer.

Regionalization of flounder – rules and regulations with a focus on southern NJ aligning with Delaware

NJ’s “Pots off the Reef” legislation – when will NJ’s Reef Program be rebuilt and who will manage the rebuilding.

State of the Union for NJ’s RFA for recreational fishermen.

Following the panel discussion, questions were taken from the audience, we welcomed 3 new members to the club, and following the meeting a delicious supper prepared by Ed and Louise Andress and Bud Lyon was served and savored by all.
