Nightmare in Strathmere 2014 was a success all around. It was a beautiful evening and there were many participants this year! T-shirts and mugs were a big hit this year, and were sold out by the end of the night! There were many houses & boats decorated, and the judges had a difficult time choosing the winners!! The SFEC would like to thank: Twisties, The Deauville, the judges, the volunteers, and all those who participated for all their help to make nightmare a success!! Pictures are on the SFEC Website!

The Kids Surf Tournament was another great success this year for the SFEC. The only problem was that the fish weren’t invited!! We had 162 kids register for the tournament & it was a beautiful day. The overall and only fish winner with a 13” bluefish was Erin Fuzer – congrats to girl power!! The raffle winners included: 1st Diane Rodgers: Sun cruiser bicycle, 2nd Rick Katz: Fuji bicycle, 3rd Colleen DiMarcantonio: Apple Mini “I” Pad, 4th Carly Copper: Eclipse + VHF Marine Radio. 2014 Reef cup tournament!
Date: Saturday, September 20th, 6AM to 4PM. Rain Date of Sunday, September 21st.
Location: Any artificial reef within 15nm of Corson’s Inlet. Ocean fishing not on an artificial reef is permitted; i.e. lumps, wrecks. Back Bay and inlet fishing is NOT permitted.
Registration & Weigh-In: Whale Creek Marina Scales open 3PM-5PM.
Rules: MUST weigh in minimum of two species of fish. The total weight of up to the 3 heaviest fish per boat will be the winner. (Stripers, sharks, skates, sea robbins, bergalls and rays are prohibited.)
Cost: $20 per angler in S.F.E.C., $25 for non-members.
Optional Calcutta: $50 per boat. 100% cash payout to 1st place boat for heaviest combined 3 fish.
BBQ/Awards: 6PM Whale Creek. Heaviest 3 fish per boat, one division.

Dune Planting Postponed until Spring 2015 & Club Meeting October 11th
We will be postponing the dune planting that was scheduled for October 11th at 8AM due to the upcoming beach replenishment project. The Club meeting will take place at 4PM on October 11th at the firehouse!! Doug Gaffney, Coastal Engineer will speak to our club about changing beaches, inlets, currents,etc. Hope to see you all there!!
